Jalisco's Grill
About This Spot
Stepping into Jalisco's Grill in Portola Valley feels like discovering a well-kept secret that’s been quietly loved by local neighbors. The moment you walk through the door, the pace softens into something unhurried and welcoming, where the hum of thoughtful conversation mixes with the comforting aromas of fresh ingredients. It’s the kind of spot where the warmth isn’t just in the décor but in the way the staff and regulars move through the space — with easy smiles and genuine care.
This casual local eatery offers more than just a meal; it invites you to pause and savor simple moments. Plates arrive generously portioned, rich in textures and subtle flavors that speak to authentic home-style Mexican cooking. Whether it’s the crisp, light bite of fish tacos or the rich, tender layers of a quesabirria, each dish carries the thoughtful hand of a kitchen dedicated to balance rather than flash.
One of the quiet pleasures here is the little extras that feel like a private nod to tradition — generous scoops of guacamole paired with perfectly crunchy chips, or a lively salsa bar that invites gentle experimentation. The atmosphere is relaxed enough to feel like an extension of your own kitchen, yet distinct in its offering of communal comfort and approachable flavors.
Families find their place here, too, with menus that accommodate young eaters without compromising on heartiness. It’s the kind of place where shared plates inspire small celebrations of flavor without fuss. And while the setting might be unassuming, the thoughtful touches — from friendly service to well-curated drink options — ensure each visit lingers pleasantly in memory.
Ultimately, Jalisco’s Grill feels like an invitation to experience familiarity through fresh eyes, a reminder that the joy of dining often comes in simple, honest moments shared over food made with care.

We love this Mexican grill. Their guacamole with the large chips and the bean paste are very tasty. Great fish tacos and quesabirrias which are flavorful.

Nice hole-in-the-wall eatery in PV. The two tacos I got were super tasty, and I loved the free crunchy tortilla with bean dips and the salsa bar. Great friendly service too. All greater PV residents should go patronize this place so they stay in business! I will be back for sure

Best chicken tacos I've had in a while. Great Birria tacos, not too greasy. Good prices. Wish they had more Jarritos flavors but the Guava sufficed.

I stopped just for the restroom. They were so accommodating i tried the food….hands down best burrito pf my life. Took my wife there recently….shes picky….she was completely wowed and exclaimed loudly how delicious it was when she bit into it. Beyond worth the drive if not from the area.

Good take out business. We ate in and loved the extra touches and kindness of the staff. Tacos were huge. Beans, rice and fajitas all awesome. We will be back.

Local mex restaurant. They also have a food truck that's goes around. Try the fajita quesadilla. They fry a whole corn tortilla as their chips with bean/chorizo dip. Lots of sauces to choose from at the sauce counter.
